Announcing: International Symposium of Spatiotemporal Data Science

Date: July 23rd – July 24th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Location: Virginia Tech Research Center – Arlington and George Mason University – Mason Square

Join us for the 2024 Spatiotemporal Data Science International Symposium and Workshop, co-sponsored by the Vice President’s Offices of Virginia Tech and George Mason University, the NSF Spatiotemporal I/UCRC (STC), the Spatial Data Lab project (SDL), the Future Data Lab, and the Journal of Urban Informatics.

This event aims to foster discussions on replicable and expandable spatiotemporal data science, highlighting new methodologies and innovative technologies. Participants will have the opportunity to have engaging discussions on new methodologies and technologies, open data sources, and advances in the spatiotemporal data science realm. The symposium will include feature multiple speakers, parallel sessions, and poster presentations, with options for both onsite and online participation. Attendees will have opportunities to network and collaborate with professionals in the field. Selected papers presented at the symposium may be recommended for publication in special issues of the Journal of Urban Informatics, Remote Sensing (Big Earth Data for Climate Change) and Big Earth Data (Spatiotemporal Data Science) following the regular review process.

Prior to the symposium, a one-day workshop on Spatiotemporal Innovation and GeoAI Applications will be held on July 22, 2024, at the Virginia Tech Research Center – Arlington. The workshop will cover topics such as replicable data analysis with geospatial analytics, development of GeoAI tools using ChatGPT, and cloud computing with Google Earth Engine. It is open to anyone interested in learning about workflow technology, GeoAI methods, and their applications in various domains, including healthcare and environmental data analysis.
