The Spatial Data Lab (SDL) represents a collaboration among the Center for Geographical Analysis at Harvard University, KNIME, Future Data Lab, China Data Institution, and George Mason University with co-sponsorship from the NSF IUCRC Spatiotemporal Innovation Center. SDL is focused on advancing applied research in spatiotemporal studies across multiple sectors including business, environment, health and mobility.
The project focuses on developing an open-source infrastructure for data linkage, analysis, and collaboration with key goals including the creation of spatiotemporal data services, a reproducible and expandable platform, and workflow driven tools for research case studies. SDL fosters spatiotemporal data science training, promotes cross party collaboration, and encourages the development of inclusive transparent and ethical geospatial tools advised by a distinguished academic committee SDL is paving the way for a more open, effective, and sustainable scientific enterprise.
