STC RENEWED FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS

The NSF I/UCRC Spatiotemporal Innovation Center (www.stcenter.net) is recently renewed for the next five years, entering its Phase II from March 2019 to 2024. The two joint sites for Phase II are George Mason University and Harvard University, with potential new sites joining in the near future. This renewal includes a five-year grant projected at $750k for George Mason University and $500k for Harvard University to support the operational activities of the center, and at least $1 million from industries per site for research projects.

The NSF I/UCRC Spatiotemporal Innovation Center is one of 71 I/UCRC centers nationally, and the only one in spatiotemporal studies. Its Phase I (2013-2018) investigation demonstrated the success of this center with 10+ books published, 10+ faculty placed, 4 startups created, 200+ papers published, and 5000+ audiences directly engaged. Phase II is expected to pilot new research projects and launch initiatives aimed at establishing the national and international spatiotemporal infrastructure to catalyzing spatiotemporal thinking, computing, and applications.
